To get your exact drill marks, grab your tape measure and follow these simple steps:
- TOTAL DRAWER WIDTH (INCHES): Measure the entire horizontal width of your drawer face from the far left edge to the far right edge. Enter that total number here.
- HARDWARE CENTER-TO-CENTER (INCHES): Do not measure your hardware from end to end! You must measure from the dead-center of the left screw hole to the dead-center of the right screw hole. Enter that exact spread here.

Here is exactly how to apply that number:
- Place a strip of blue painter’s tape horizontally across your drawer face.
- Measure the total height of the drawer face, divide by two, and strike a horizontal center-line across the painter’s tape.
- Hook your tape measure on the far left edge of the drawer face, measure inward exactly your calculated distance, and make a pencil mark intersecting your horizontal center-line.
- Next, hook your tape measure on the far right edge, measure inward exactly that distance, and make your second pencil mark on the line.
- These two marks are your perfectly centered drill holes!

A. For standard cabinet drawers, your hardware should always be placed in the dead center of the drawer face (both vertically and horizontally). Measure the total height of the drawer face and divide by two to find your vertical intersecting line.
Q. How do I measure center-to-center on a cabinet pull?
A. Never measure a pull from the outside ends. You must measure from the dead-center of one screw hole to the dead-center of the other. This center-to-center spread is the only measurement that matters when drilling holes, buying replacement parts, or using this calculator.
Q. What if my drawer is wider than 24 inches?
A. If a drawer is 24 inches or wider, a single pull in the center will cause the metal drawer slides to bind and warp over time due to uneven pulling pressure. For wide drawers, you must install two separate pulls. Divide the total width of the drawer into thirds, and place the hardware so the dead-center of each pull rests exactly on the 1/3 and 2/3 marks.
